Session 1: GPS on the School Campus

Greg Sherwin (Adlai E. Stevenson High School) and Crystal Williams (Illinois State University)

Hand-held GPS units will be used in this activity. Teachers will be able to borrow classroom sets of these same GPS units to use in their classrooms in the future at no charge.

Session 2: Apps, Maps, and AP Human Geography

Session 3: Online Atlas of Illinois

Jill Thomas, Crystal Williams, and Amy Bloom (Illinois State University)

We will share a new, free interactive online atlas designed, developed, and supported by the Illinois Geographic Alliance and Illinois State University. After a brief overview of the online atlas and accompanying lesson plans, we will demonstrate how to actually use the atlas in the classroom through interactive activities, including those geared towards AP Human Geography.

Session 4: Introducing the ESRI ArcGIS Educational K-12 License for the State of Illinois – a new program to bring free ESRI GIS software to Illinois schools
